Clay County Animal Shelter

The Clay County Animal Shelter is funded by the county.  It is located on the south edge of Louisville on Hwy. 45 in Louisville, IL.

The phone number is 618-665-3005.

Please call to make an appointment to see available animals, since animal control officers are frequently out on call during shelter business hours, which are 10:00-4:00, M-F, and might not be at  the shelter if you just drop by.

Closed on weekends and holidays.

There is an adoption event every first and third Saturday of the month at Orscheln's, in Flora, IL.

You can e-mail Amanda, the animal control officer at claycoac@gmail.com

The adoption fee is $50 and includes vaccination and deworming.  Adult dogs receive one 7 way vaccine.  Puppies receive their first 7 way vaccination at intake and their second vaccination after two weeks.  The adoption fee also includes microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law. You must sign a contract stipulating that you will spay/neuter the the dog or cat  within 30 days of the adoption, or 6 months of age whichever comes first. For those who are unable to pay for the entire spay/neuter fee assistance is available from the "For A Good Paws" organization. Thank you for making adoption the FIRST option!
