Chief is battling his way back from being hit by a car in May of 2019. The nerve damage he sustained from that injury left him incontinent and with a lack of bowel control. We tried to get him into boxer rescues, but the bowel issues made that a no go. Fortunately, we had a foster step up to take on this challenge. We have pressed forward with vetting, medication and supplements trying to get his bowel issues more manageable and under control. We are racking up significant fees for him with tests, medications and surgeries. Any contribution towards this (currently have put over $400 into his vetting and meds) via the sponsorship link, would be hugely appreciated. We remain ever grateful for the foster willing to take Chief on and work with him through this. There is no question Chief's quality of life is dramatically improved. The foster's life wrestling with his incontinence issues, not so improved, but we're hoping it gets more manageable soon. More about ChiefGood with Dogs, Good with Kids, Good with Adults Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005. We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only. The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150. It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law. Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship. Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption. Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100. We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption. Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website.
